Carrington's Fundraising Lunch for Fiji
Most of you will have had the pleasure of meeting our big Fijian friend Marika Gusuna down at Carrington’s Pumphouse.
Sadly Marika’s village in Fiji, Namotomoto, has been decimated by the recent catastrophic floods. These are the worst floods on record, with waters tearing through homes up to the roofline, and leaving villagers with the clothes on their backs and the shell of their house. Seventy villagers are holed up in the church with no power or clean water.
On site at Carrington’s, we will have a 40ft shipping container for a week from next Tuesday, April 10th. We need to fill it with clothing, furniture, bedding, cookware, appliances, and even old gas bbqs - basically essentials for people who have lost everything. If you have some stuff which could put a smile on a child’s face, that would be good too.
The good people at Reef Shipping have started the ball rolling with a 50% discount on the freight, but that’s still $2,000 we need to raise as well.
Consequently, we’re having a fundraising function at Carrington’s on Sunday, April 15th, with a scrumptious lunch feast and classy entertainment. This should be a fun day, so bring the family down. All proceeds will go towards the freight cost, and beyond that to the villagers for basic food and family items.
So please folks, dig deep and bring down some gear for the container, come down on Sunday week for lunch and entertainment, or donate some funds into account ANZ 010194: 0127500:02 Reference Fiji Flood Relief.
