Important Policies
Assessment Policy
The Assessment and Feedback Policy sets out some of Unitec’s obligations and your rights in terms of how assessment and feedback should be organised while you’re here. It also sets out the requirement that you should ordinarily receive feedback on assessments no later than three weeks after you’ve handed it in.
Academic Statute
The Academic Statute is Unitec’s main guideline on what regulations will affect every programme a student can be enrolled in at Unitec. It contains information on the regulations governing student appeals, and sets out the ways in which a student might be ‘excluded’ from Unitec for continued poor academic performance.
The Student Disciplinary Statute
From bullying, to cheating on tests, to drugs on campus, the Student Disciplinary Statute sets out what behaviour is unacceptable at Unitec. It also sets out your rights to a fair hearing and support if you ever find yourself under investigation for misconduct.
The Student Complaints Policy
If you feel you’ve been wronged by a service, process, or another member of the Unitec community, this policy sets out both how Unitec will undertake to deal with formal complaints, and who the best person to go to with your complaint. Remember that USU’s Advocacy Service is also always here to help deal with possible and definite complaints.
Vehicle Use and Parking Statute
If you drive to Unitec to get to class each day, this lets you know the rules you need to observe when using your vehicle, your rights and obligations when parking at Unitec, and how to retrieve a vehicle if it ever gets towed (touch wood!).
Library Policy
The Library Policy at Unitec sets out the opening hours, late fees, and conditions on computer use at our three libraries.
Accommodation for International Students Policy
This policy contains Unitec’s undertaking to arrange accommodation for international students, and ensuring this accommodation meets with Unitec’s obligations under the Code of Practice for International Students – particularly for persons under the age of 18.
Accomodation for International Students Policy
Remember – if you ever have questions about any of these statutes or policies, you can make time with a USU Student Issues Advocate to go through them and discuss what they mean for you.
