WOOHOO, summer time is just around the corner and already the temperature is heating up. I live in a freezing cold Auckland villa that only gets sun in the bathroom and the toilet, and I’ve found myself walking around the house in a t-shirt and barefoot recently, (instead of the usual attire of a jumper, beanie, scarf, puffer jacket, thermals) so it’s a definite sign of things to come.

Be a champ, buy someone a pie.  You’d be well on the way to being on my Christmas list if you bought me a pie.  As the age old saying goes, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”.

Now, whilst I realise beggars can’t be choosers, should you buy someone a pie from The Fridge in Kingsland, they probably won’t appreciate just how much of the hard earned folding stuff you forked out on them.

Lesson learnt…again, you don’t always get what you pay for, and I’ll tell you why.

Bare cupboards, grumbling tummies and almost empty wallets meant heading

to the filthy yet famous, Mercury Plaza for a well deserved dinner. If you have ever been lucky enough to indulge in one of the many dishes this food court has to offer, you will know that having to sit on the mismatched chairs is well worth it.

Pies are good.  I don’t care what nutritionists say, it’s totally worth chowing on a pie and smashing yourself afterward to burn it off...just so you can eat another one.  The problem is, you need to find a good pie to make it all worthwhile.

The definition of “good” is all relative, so for us poor students a good pie starts with a cheap pie.  Now, I tend to rate an entire bakery based on its ability to make the ubiquitous steak and cheese pie.  Is there any food more Kiwi?

If you find yourself on Waiheke Island and looking for an enjoyable place to grab a meal, don’t stop until you arrive at Miro Vineyard. On top of producing some of Waiheke’s most beautiful wine, the Winery offers up an amazing selection of dining pleasures at their Tapas restaurant called Casita Miro.

A lazy Sunday paved the way to an evening city-bound in hopes of an exciting culinary experience. Having chosen among a myriad of options for a restaurant worth dressing up for, Y-Not on the Princes Wharf was the final decision.

I've been getting a lot of extremely aggressive hate mail from y'all. Letting me know that my snack reviews are far too bland/boring and that I should either shape up and try something exciting and exotic, or stop writing them. This critic has two words for his critics. BHUJA MIX!

Ever feel like eating some delicious noodles, but just can't deal with the extravagant (two minute) preparation times?! Yes. You have. Everyone has. Everyone has. There is a way to get past that bitch of a problem. And it is called Crispy Noodles. And it is delicious. And it is cheap. And it is mean as.
