One-stop service centres to make student life at Unitec easier

Unitec is preparing to open three new student service centres on its Mt Albert and Waitakere campuses to make it easier for students to use its information, enrolment and support services.

The new centres, to be known as Student Central (Te Pae Kȯrero), open on Monday 19 April, the first day after Unitec’s Semester 1 mid-semester break.

They will bring together a range of services that students need to study at Unitec. These services, which include course information, applications and enrolments, student allowances and referrals to academic staff and support staff, are currently managed by the Course Information Centre or by the institute’s departments and faculties.

“Student Central is about making it quicker and easier for our students to find and use the services they need,” says David Coltman, Executive Director, Student and Community Engagement. “And about making sure they receive the same services, in the same way, whatever programme they’re studying.”

With 23,000 students and 147 programmes of study, business at Student Central will be brisk. The institute is gearing up for this by appointing more than 30 staff to positions in the new student service centres. More information is available on the Unitec website.
