Kia Ora guys and gals!
This is a particularly tricky column to write I must say. Trying to make “money-issues” readable and somewhat entertaining is a lot like trying to nail jelly to a tree. Perplexing. Even after you’ve succeeded you find yourself thinking: “Why did I bother doing that? Jelly and trees just aren’t meant to be together…”
Combining finance and comedy is really a bit of a perversion of nature... unless of course, you’re the government*BAM!*
Welcome, everyone, to the inaugural online only issue of In Unison! The internet just became a happier place.
My relationship with the $$$ has always been strained. At the end of the money I always seem to have a bit of month left. I really see it as nothing more than a means to an end. I think a lot of people see it the same way.
Some people, however, have some interesting “ends” so to speak. Stephen Versalko, for example, recently admitted to swindling nearly $18 million over nine years and spent $3.4 million on his two favourite prostitutes. Apparently there are some things your day job can buy. For everything else, there’s fraud. What a dick. All I can say is that at least one of those hookers better have been able to do a back-flip or something. $3.4 million? Ridiculous…
Make the best of what you have! Life’s too short to get caught up on money trouble and material possessions. Remember: Every closet is a walk-in closet if you try hard enough. Any car will last a life-time if you’re careless enough. And everything is within walking distance if you have the time. So my advice is that you make the time and enjoy the fresh air.
Peace,
Pete.
Staying hip in changing times:
This week’s way of staying hip is something that is taking the world by storm: Free-running. You only have to look up Damien Walters, Danny Ilabaca or Tim “Livewire” Shieff on You Tube to see why. I took up free-running in November last year and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. Great for fitness, awesome fun and more focused on self betterment than competition. Get into the scene people! Come and have a chat if you’re keen to train sometime!
