“Only two things kept me out of the All Black Squad. Lack of talent, and training.”

We all had our chance at rugby fame and fortune. Some peaked in high school, scoring tries in big games, between one rival high school or another.

    I peaked much earlier.

Soon, my generation, the baby boomers, or Gen X for the later ones, will have to pass on the mantle of world affairs to the next generation. That, being Generation Y. And I for one am happy to do so. Before long, Gen Y will be the movers and shakers, the politicians, lawyers and enforcers. My generation will head to the old folks home and wistfully reminisce on the good old days of long hair, short skirts, and street riots.

    A Cynic's Waffling

We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars, but we won’t.

We’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.

For the Love of Balls: Wave Poachers

    By Ashley Smith | 29 Apr 2011

In the last 12 months the new craze of paddleboard surfing has washed across New Zealand’s many beaches and bays. Anyone who visited the open ocean at all over the warmer months will have seen at least one of the many paddle boarders that infested the water. The thing is, they’re hogging all the waves, and making surfing way more shit.

IN UNISOuNd: Smells like something from a 90’s Chart Topper.

    By Ashley Smith | 29 Apr 2011

So after I finished the Gen Y time machine from the card board boxes, tin foil, a coat hanger and the entrails from an old transistor radio, I thought this machine would be the perfect way to visit my childhood again. I stepped inside and powered on the contraption, flicked the switch... And electrocuted myself.

I went, I saw, I conquered, I drank, I acquired beads (and unfortunately bronchitis) at Mardi Gras  2011.

    DLove Interview

    By Ashley Smith | 29 Apr 2011

He appeared on the music scene in 2008 with his debut single ‘I Can Fly’, yet he hasn’t been seen around since.  However, he is far from being a one hit wonder. Since his debut, he has transformed from little known artist to one of the biggest and best producers New Zealand has ever known. He has worked alongside some of NZ’s hottest acts, created the ‘Geeking’ movement and has big plans to take over the centre stage. I sat down to chat with Daniel Love aka DLove, who told me he’s back and doing better than ever...

Why do I watch Glee when all it does is piss me off? The first season entertained me. I loved how barefacedly camp it was and some of the musical arrangements were stupendous! But no, every episode I find more and more to groan about, and less and less to make me laugh. And yet, I feel kind of bereft without it in my life. Why can’t I stop watching Glee?
