I’ve a terrible confession to make. I haven’t watched a single game in the Football World Cup. Last time I watched the final just to see if angry Frenchman Zinedine Zidane would do something exciting. He delivered.
I’m unaware of any notoriously angry players this time so I haven’t bothered to watch anything. People are really quite shocked, where was my national pride they asked me. Well, I said, “If I had known the All Whites would do well I would have watched them.”
Apparently sport doesn’t work this way, it’s like a marriage. You’re supposed to be there through the good times and the bad times, sickness and health and all that jazz.
It was just too much effort really to get up early and watch anything. Instead I’ve been following Paul. He’s worth the effort.
If you don’t know who Paul the Physic Octopus is then you’ve clearly been paying far too much attention to the actual games.
This octopus is super smart and (with one exception) has successfully predicted the result of every game which Germany plays in for the past two years. The team was on a winning streak in the World Cup and then, all of a sudden, Paul turned on them.
He predicted a win for Spain that would see Germany wave a sad goodbye to a spot in the finals. How does he know?
Thoughts? Theories?
