Fashion Week Part #2

Fashionistas are looking a little worse for wear on day three of NZFW. With gale force winds threatening the venue there is constant worry about the stability of the Westpac Tent, with lights flickering and hail falling. In between these weather woes there are bursts of sunshine, and shows to see during them. The New Generation show sponsored by PWC was a real highlight, showcasing some of the industry's brightest up-and-coming designers; including the flirty and feminine Celine Rita range which you can check out in our Fashion and Fame issue out in two weeks time. We will also feature and interview with Celine Rita designer Celine Chapman.

Seasoned Fashion Week label Sabatini showed yesterday in a group show with Augustine International. The family based knitwear company is almost 50-years-old and have been showing at Fashion Week regularly since the event's humble beginnings at Auckland's Town Hall 10 years ago. In Unison asked company director Tony Milich how the event has changed, developed and grown and he shares his unique viewpoint on how NZFW has been affected by the recession. That interview will also be available to read in our next issue, as well as pictures of their gorgeous knitwear collection.

Day three kicked off with 27-Names followed by a group show filled with beautiful indigenous references and contemporary kiwi music. Trends are moving slowly in a difficult retail market, with few designers risking anything drastically different. There is plenty of Goth and grunge to be seen at Nom D and Zambesi, while Trelise Cooper and Liz Mitchell opted for 50's influenced silhouettes and classic feminine detailing.

Check out our coverage from DAY ONE.
